I've Been Making Music Forever...

I've been making music in church as long as I can remember. As a matter of fact, the reason my parents signed me up for piano lessons when I was seven was because I would come home from church and plunk out the melodies of the hymns I had just heard. When I was in the sixth grade my aunt, who had been our church's organist for years, retired and there was no one in our small country church to take her place. So I quickly turned my attention to the organ. And the rest is history. Learn more about me.

I Also Enjoy Composing...

Most of my composing comes about because of necessity. It usually happens when I can't find anything for Sunday morning in the stack of hymnals I already have sitting in my office! One of my goals in composing a piece of music to be used in worship is that the congregation be able to pick it up easily the first time they hear it. That's not to say that my music is simplistic...I just know how difficult it can be for people to start singing something new right away. You can check out a few of my compositions here.
